New Year’s Resolutions…

Gym commercials, diet ads, new year new you! This time of year we are bombarded with dozens and dozens of ways to “improve” ourselves. And why not?! It’s a brand new year, new chance to make changes, to try new things! Nothing wrong with that! But what bothers me is how this time of year all these ads seem to say the same thing “you’ll be happier if…….” . We all know most resolutions don’t make it past January if that! So why do we fall for all these fad diets, gym memberships ect.? What if our new year’s resolution was to choose to be happy? Not limit it to being happy if you lose weight, start a diet, find a date or any number of things we think will make us happy. What If every morning we woke up and thanked God for all we already have? We take for granted a lot of things in life, our functioning bodies, a roof over our heads, food on the table, beds to sleep in….there’s many people who have started the new year in the hospital or living on the street. There’s many people have so little and yet we often don’t appericiate all that we have! We are very blessed, even when we are in times of struggle. Every morning we wake up we can be thankful for another day! It’s another day to make better choices then the day before! So go ahead and make resolutions! But try doing it short term….want to lose a couple pounds? Make a resolution to consciously think about what your going to eat the next day….make your resolutions daily. Those small changes daily will add up to larger changes. Most important is to realize your worth. Your pants size, bra size, bank account, college degree or any number of things don’t make you more or less valuable. A wise friend once told me ” life isn’t a check list” she was right! I use to have my life check list and every time life didn’t care about my check list I felt defeated. Exactly the way you are at this very moment you are already priceless! YOU are PRICELESS! So choose joy! Choose happiness! What’s my new year’s resolution? I want to get out what I don’t need… with less. I also want to get moving, most my hobbies involve sitting and I miss being very active like I use to be. So these are the changes I have made with in the last few days…I’ve donated craft stuff I haven’t used in over a year. It gave me a lot more space in my craft area which I can now use for my writing stuff! My in laws gave me some Christmas money so I have used that to by myself a new bicycle and the “co-pilot” bike attachment so my daughter can easily go for bike rides with me. I’ve taken a few smaller steps to make changes and I’m already feeling less stressed. I tend to struggle with feeling in a rut so this year I am going to choose happiness! Whenever I feel myself starting to get into a rut I’m going to think of as many things to be thankful for as I can….life is hard, no doubt but life is also very short. Live for today, live to spread joy, spread blessings and spend your time with those you love. You won’t ever regret it! Happy New Year everyone!!!! Do something nice for someone else every day this year!!!!!!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
